With Christmas Break approaching, we are providing information and reminders as they relate to the return to school following the holidays on January 3, 2022.
Christmas Break: Schools will be closed between December 18 to January 2. School staff will be off during the Christmas Break and will be returning to work on January 3, 2022. If you are contacting school staff during this time, please note that there may be a delay in response.
Communication over the Christmas Break: Wellington Catholic DSB will provide operational updates and information received from WDG Public Health and the Ministry of Education through school and school board websites, social media, and/or via e-mail. Phone calls or e-mails will be used to notify caregivers of confirmed case close contacts as well as any change in school operations that occur over the Christmas Break.
Return to Learning Following the Christmas Break: We continue to anticipate a return to in-person learning following the Christmas break. We know that this information may change in response to updated Ministry of Education or public health guidance. If we are required to move to remote learning in January, we will communicate this information to you through our regular means (i.e., e-mail, school and school board websites, and social media).
International Travel: Families planning international trips should continue to review Federal policies for international travel before departure. Please check the Federal Government Website for the most up-to-date information on any requirements for isolation or quarantine.: https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid
Daily COVID-19 Screening: Families are encouraged to continue the practice of daily COVID-19 screening throughout the Christmas Break. Students will be reminded of daily COVID-19 screening practices for the first two weeks following a return in January. https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/
Rapid Antigen Test Kits: Information concerning the voluntary use of Rapid Antigen Testing Kits for the Winter Break was sent home this week. Please refer to the following instructions provided by Ontario Health to assist with the use of the kit:
Thank you for your continued support. We wish your family a safe, healthy and happy Christmas. We look forward to seeing everyone in 2022.
