Indigenous Summer School Language Course

Current students in grade 8 - 12 in Wellington Catholic will have the opportunity to take an Online Ojibwe Language Course during the month of July. This course is being offered by  the Kinoomadziwin Education Body .

This course will allow students with no prior Ojibwe language experience to develop an appreciation for Ojibwe language and culture, to explore and experience a unique world view, and to learn to speak Ojibwe language. Students will learn common greetings and daily routines, become familiar with its writing and sound system, and practice basic vocabulary and phrases. Students will also use information technology during course-related activities. This course is a partnership with Biigtigong Nishnaabeg and the Kinoomadziwin Education Body.   

  • This course is available to current grade 8 - 12 students. 
  • Students who successfully complete this course will receive one high school credit.
  • The course will run from July 4-29, 5 hours a day.
  • There will be a mix of synchronous (minimum of 1 hour and 15 minutes/day) and asynchronous components. The virtual platform will be D2L.
  • This course is open to any student, Indigenous and non-Indigenous.
